On March 24, 2023, the fourth working meeting of the ninth session of the Science Popularization Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Instrumentation and Meters was successfully held. The meeting took the form of online and offline synchronization, and organized the members of the Science Popularization Working Committee of the Society (hereinafter referred to as the "Science Popularization Committee") to conduct learning, exchange, and discussion around the science popularization work of the Society.

The meeting was chaired by Qian Zheng, Chairman of the Science Popularization Committee, Director of the Academic Affairs Department of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Professor of the School of Instrument Science and Optoelectronic Engineering of Beihang University. Zhang Li, Deputy Secretary of the Society in charge of science popularization business, attended the meeting and delivered a speech and positive message on behalf of the Secretariat of the Society.

At the meeting, Professor Qian Zheng, the chairman of the Science Popularization Committee, gave a report titled "Summary of Science Popularization Work in 2022 and Key Tasks and Plans for Science Popularization Work in 2023". In the report, Professor Qian summarized the work ideas and rhythms of the Institute and its Science Popularization Committee in 2022, including improving the science popularization work mechanism, building the science popularization team, planning and organizing science popularization activities "The work carried out in the field of instrument and meter science and the spiritual communication of scientists, as well as the awards and encouragement received, and the positive exploration and reform carried out by the Society in the past year in terms of science popularization work mode, science popularization activity form, and science popularization content communication were affirmed and summarized. It was also clarified that the science popularization work in 2023 will focus on the cultivation of young scientific and technological talents, science popularization+industry empowerment (integration of industry and education)," Guiding the creation of high-quality popular science content and other work priorities.
Cao Li, Vice Chairman of the Science Popularization Committee and Associate Professor of the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University, together with the members of the Science Popularization Committee, interpreted and studied the "Opinions on Further Strengthening Science Popularization Work in the New Era" issued by the Party Central Committee and the State Council in September 2022. Through analyzing the original article, from the overall requirements, we strengthened the responsibility of the entire society for science popularization, strengthened the construction of science popularization capacity, and promoted the coordinated development of science popularization and technological innovation, Strengthening the role of science popularization in the lifelong learning system in the spirit of the five aspects of the document has enabled members to further understand that science popularization is an important fundamental work for achieving innovative development. Creating a social atmosphere that loves science and advocates innovation is an important measure to improve the level of civilization of the entire society.

Li Shuhui, Secretary General of the Science Popularization Committee and Director of the Science Popularization Training Department of the China Instrumentation Society, reported the change plan to the meeting around the upcoming change of the Science Popularization Committee in 2023, organized discussions among members, and recommended five representatives of the current Science Popularization Committee to form a leadership group for the change. They are: the representative of the person in charge of the Science Popularization Committee, and Qian Zheng, Minister of the Academic Affairs Department of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as the group leader; Yang Jun, the chief scientific communication expert representative, professor of the National University of Defense Technology, and director of the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Measurement, Control, and Navigation Technology, served as the deputy team leader; And three team members: Wu Yi, representative of the Science Popularization Committee and deputy director of the Shanghai Food Research Institute; Cao Jianqing, representative of the popular science education base and curator of the Library of Shanghai Second Industrial University; Chu Xiaoli, a representative of the Vice Chairman and an expert from the Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum and Chemical Technology. After that, the meeting also invited two members of the Science Popularization Committee to share their experience in science popularization work: Wu Yi, a member of the Science Popularization Committee and director of the Shanghai Food Research Institute, gave a theme report on "Adding Science Education in the Context of Double Reduction". The report analyzed that in the context of double reduction, the country is increasingly attaching importance to science and technology education. By sharing her own experiences and experiences in carrying out science education in primary and secondary schools, Wu suggested learning to study Organize scientific quality competitions in the field of instruments and meters to promote learning, stimulate young people to learn and apply for the discipline of instrument science and technology, and cultivate discipline reserve forces.

Zhang Yanhui, a member of the Science Popularization Committee and Secretary General of the Smart Car and Robot Branch of the Society, delivered a report on "Science Popularization Helps Youth Science and Technology Innovation". By sharing his work experience in conducting "doctoral classes" for youth science popularization at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, he discussed the status and role of youth science popularization, and how to combine the characteristics of youth science popularization to conduct science popularization lectures and create popular opinions for youth Love to listen to popular science videos you love to watch.

Since then, online and offline science popularization committee members have actively discussed topics such as science popularization activities, science popularization creation, and science popularization communication that need to be focused on by subsequent societies and instrumentation disciplines. Rao Zhenghua, a member of the Beijing Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, discussed his practical experience and difficulties around the creation of "Da Jia Shuo Instrument" science popularization video; Yuan Hongfu, a member from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, talked about the need to focus on exploring and distinguishing the needs of different audience groups and different fields in conducting science popularization work, and also focusing on conducting it for decision makers to guide them to understand the instrument discipline; Chu Xiaoli, a member of the Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum and Chemical Technology, shared relevant experiences around the themes of popular science creation and book publishing; Teacher Fan Zhongqi, consultant of the Science Popularization Committee, former chief engineer of Yanshan Petrochemical, and senior consultant of Zhejiang Zhongkong, also fully affirmed the progress made in the science popularization work of the Institute in recent years; Fei Jianmin, a member from Shanghai University, also shared experiences in organizing and participating in popular science competitions; Cao Jianqing, a member from Shanghai Second University of Technology, suggested that interactive and experiential science popularization activities such as science popularization and research should be carried out around the forefront and hot spots of science and technology that young people are interested in. Qu Yufu, a member of the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Dou Hui, a member of the Digital City Measurement and Control Technology Branch of the Society, also spoke about the importance of popularizing science in instrumentation, especially the urgency and necessity of popularizing science in instrumentation for young people; Popular science members from Harbin Institute of Electrical and Instrumentation, Changchun China Optical Science and Technology Museum, Chongqing Institute of Materials and Instrumentation, and the National Grain and Materials Reserve Bureau Scientific Research Institute also participated in the exchange and discussion.

In the afternoon of the same day, the conference team also specially organized some offline members to visit the Aerospace Museum of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the China Science and Technology Museum to visit the exhibition of key core technologies and major scientific and technological achievements in the new era mentioned in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, to learn and experience the spirit of the 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
